Launch of the International Scope and Standards for Home Healthcare Nursing

One of the landmark moments of the IHCNO/ADNE 2026 Conference was the official launch of the International Scope and Standards for Home Healthcare Nursing, presented by Dr. Mary Narayan. Developed through a global literature review, international surveys involving nearly 300 home healthcare nurses from more than 40 countries, and consensus from a 25-member international taskforce representing all six World Health Organization regions, the document establishes the first internationally developed framework for home healthcare nursing practice.

The International Scope and Standards for Home Healthcare Nursing define the core attitudes, knowledge, skills, roles, responsibilities, and professional standards needed to deliver high-quality, equitable care in people's homes across diverse health systems. Soon to be freely available through IHCNO, this landmark resource is designed to support clinical practice, education, workforce development, policy, and professional recognition while strengthening home healthcare nursing worldwide.
